Penske Contact - higher rates
Please contact the Tukwila Penske office 206-246-7600 for all rentals, including Redmond and North Bend.  The branch manager is Qihang Zhang.

Dave Manley talked to Andrew [at] Penske Tukwila who is Qihang  (pronounced She-Hong) assistant mgr.  Andrew said he could give the club a rate of:

  • 24' lift gate:  Did not get a price [last year $105]
  • 16' lift gate:   $90 per day and 0.25 per mile. [last year $85 and 0.16/mile]
  • 12’ No lift gate: $70 per day 0.3 mile

Andrew is not in on Monday but is in on Tue. He may be in this weekend.

If someone wants to get a truck from some other location, you can make the reservation through Andrew.  Depending on the location you may or may not get a lift gate.  For example Bothell has no lift gates but Seattle and Tukwila, along with a small number of other places, have them.

…and you can always just drive your Mini Cooper out there too with a trailer.

John Overholt provided this information.  The Enterprise truck holds one macrobin - we have photos.

The trucks are $54 +/- and come with unlimited mileage (I confirmed travel to Vineyards ok).
They also offer insurance.
I don't know their fuel economy, but I drove mine from Sammamish to south Seattle and back when I picked up my bladder press and it hardly moved the needle on the gas gauge.
Plus members can get these trucks at any Enterprise location that's convenient to them.
The beds have plastic liners to make  macrobin loading/unloading easy.

I-90 Roadwork

Tom Wiitala picked up Artz Semillon on September 12 and reports:

"People coming over should also be aware that the road work east of Cle Elum on I-90 can add close to an hour going over. Traffic is reduced to one lane ... The construction is also on west bound, but doesn't seem as bad."

Artz Update
9/21  Kathryn Chalfan: What color are the Merlot seeds? Jorja Artz: They are mostly brown. We are supposed to warm up over here after today. I am expecting the numbers to look more normal next week. Kathryn Chalfan: Thanks! Jorja Artz: Yep. It was 37 here this morning.
As of 9/20, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Syrah have been harvested.  Next up:  Merlot 1,600 lbs.
Jorja says "We've had some rain and very cool temperatures, so not a lot of change".

Reminder how to get to Artz:

There is no address at this location.  Best done in daylight.

Take exit 96 and then the first right on the round about towards west Richland. Hwy 224.  Stay left on Hwy 224.

Turn left on Sunset road.

Go about 3 miles, pass Kiona on left, and then turn left on Artz Rd.

Go down to the gate, passing about a mile of new metal poles, and turn hard right towards the big tree. Then turn left. Look for the Artz crew by the bins on the basketball court.
