February Beer Meeting - Beginners Homebrewing Class and Smoked Beer Advanced Topic

Our February beer meeting will be split in two parts.  In the kitchen we will hold a beginners brewing class for new brewers (so invite all of your non-brewing friends to come out) and in the main area we will have an advanced topic (smoked beers, see below).

Beginners Homebrewing Class - Feb 24th, 6:30-9:00 pm

Learn to make your own great tasting beer at home! The Boeing Employees Wine and Beer Makers Club (BEWBC) is hosting a beginner’s homebrewing class in which you’ll learn about the process and equipment required to make custom-designed, top-quality beer.  During the class we will make a batch of beer and learn about the follow-up tasks of bottling and tasting.  Admission for the class is free, but we ask that you reserve a seat in order to ensure that there are plenty of course materials available.

Contact: Mark Emiley to reserve a seat or for more details: (206-544-7615)

Smoked Beers - same time, same place!

For our already brewing members, during the beginners homebrew class, Brandon Horn will be giving a lecture on smoked beer?  Learn how to incorporate the interesting characters of smoked malts into your beers.  We'll explore different smoked malts, talk about what styles they can be used in, and try some homebrew and commercial versions of these complex beers.  If you think you might make it shoot Brandon an e-mail so he knows how much beer to bring.  If you have any smoked beers around, bring them down!

Also, the next AHA Club Only Competition is Bocks so if you have any bottles of your bocks around, bring them down and we'll see if we want to submit one on behalf of the club.
