We are ramping up for Winefest 2012. Now would be a good time to bottle anything you want to enter. If you have some dusty old bottles of wine, you may want to bring a couple to enter. Preliminaries will be on July 13. This is where we will judge each other’s wine and later see how our judging compares with the professional folks. Finals will be on Sunday July 15th. The judges will have mostly completed their judging by the time members start gathering at 3:30 PM. We will be announcing winners of the different categories.
Winefest is not just for those that enter wines. All of you club members that like to try your peers wines should come as well. This is a great chance to enjoy some great wines, hang out with some professionals in the business and learn a bit more about wine. Just bring a potluck item and a beverage to share. Remember Beer is always welcomeJ
For those entering wines, here is the Winfest process:
Entries: Members complete the entry form for each wine you enter by July 10th Completing the forms by July 10th allows us to group the wines and finalize th categories for judging. If you are unable to get the forms in by the 10th, go ahead and bring your entry forms and two bottles of wine per entry on Friday night and we will do our best to get them entered in the data base. Mail your entry fees to Dennis Campbell, 8007 Talbot Rd, Edmonds, WA 98026.
Preliminaries: Members show up at the preliminaries where we will judge each other’s wines using the Criteria the professionals use. Ribbons are awarded based on the member scoring of the wines. See the Winefest preliminaries flyer for additional details. Note: If you enter wines but will not be able to bring your wines to the preliminaries, please make arrangements for someone to get them to the preliminaries. Finals: Judges will score wines from noon until around 3:30 Members arrive at the Campbell’s at 3:30 for potluck, socializing, games and networking. Awards will be given after the scoring is tallied. You will have a chance to personally receive one-on-one advice from wine industry experts. All for Free!!!!
