Steve has been doing wine education for BEWBC for 34 years. Most or all of us have benefited from Steve’s generous sharing of his knowledge - sometimes formally in the classroom, and often at crush sites and in homes and garages. More than 20 commercial wineries have evolved from this club, applying the wine education to produce top quality wines for many tables far away. It’s difficult to overstate the contribution Steve’s dedication to winemaking excellence has made. Steve has announced his retirement from wine education. Those of us who have benefited, please think about a role in the future wine education program, perhaps teaching all or a portion of future Introduction to Winemaking classes, or as a mentor.
Introduction to Winemaking
August 25, 9am-3pm, location to be announced
You’ll learn about the process and equipment for making premium wine from grapes grown here in Washington. We will discuss the major steps and decisions required to make quality wine. Following the class, you will have the opportunity to acquire grapes and proceed through the entire winemaking process in parallel with the other participants. The Club has mentors who will assist you through fermentation, aging, and bottling your premium wine.
